Creating a custom flow

Wiz generates your core flows for you - but you're not limited to them. With custom flows you can build your own automated email sequences for anything else: a post-purchase upsell series, a VIP thank-you for big spenders, a country-specific welcome, and more.

If you haven't read The flow builder yet, start there - a custom flow uses all the same building blocks.

Starting a new flow

1. Open Wiz → Flows & pop-up and click Create Flow (top right).
2. Give your flow a name and click Continue.

Your new flow opens in the flow builder, where you build it out node by node.

Building the flow

1. Set the trigger. Click the Flow Trigger node and choose what starts the flow - who enters it, whether they can re-enter, any filters, and what removes them early. Every option is covered in The flow builder.

2. Add your emails. Click the + between nodes and choose Add Email. The Create Email dialog opens with three ways to make the email:

• Generate with AI - describe the email you want, and Wiz generates it in your branding. The more specific your description, the better the result - mention the occasion, the angle, and who it's for.
• Start from template - pick a template and edit it yourself.
• Plain text - a simple text-only email.

With the AI path you also choose:

• What the email should feature - a specific Product, a Collection, or All Products.
• A discount (optional) - enter a code or click Generate random code, set the value (percentage or fixed amount) and its active dates, or choose No Discount.

Click Generate and the email appears in your flow as a new Send Email node.

3. Space the emails out. Add Time Delay nodes between emails and set how long to wait - minutes, hours, or days.

4. Save. Click Save in the bar at the top. You can come back and edit the flow any time.

After you save

Your flow appears on the Flows & pop-up page alongside the flows Wiz generated, with the same controls: a toggle to turn it on or off, and a ⋯ menu with Analytics, Edit flow, Change name, and Turn off. Check that its toggle is on when you're ready for it to start sending.

Common questions

How many emails can a custom flow have?

Add as many Send Email nodes as your sequence needs - each with its own delay, design, and on/off toggle.

Can Wiz write the emails for me?

Yes - choose Generate with AI in the Create Email dialog and describe what you want. Every generated email uses your store's branding, like the rest of your Wiz emails.

Can I duplicate an email I already like?

Yes. In the builder, open the ⋯ menu on a Send Email node and choose Duplicate, then edit the copy.

What triggers can custom flows use?

The same triggers as every flow: New subscriber, Product viewed, Checkout started, Placed order, or a custom Shopify Flow trigger. New triggers are added regularly - if you need one that isn't there, message our team through the chat.

Can I rename a flow later?

Yes - ⋯ → Change name on the Flows page.
